Debt Collectors amongst the UK’s worst drivers

According to a new survey by Insurance company 1st central, Debt Collectors is the profession listed as 8th worst in the UK for road traffic accidents.

Industry experts have been looking at the links between professions and the number of respective accidents and found that there is a high number amongst professionals within the debt collection industry.

As mainly people in the Debt Collection industry are self employed such as certificated Bailiffs and High Court enforcement Officers, time is often money so getting from one job to the next as quickly as possible therefore increasing the likelihood of a collision.

The list of the UK’s most unsafe drivers also includes Accountants, estate agents and more suprisingly Mechanics.

Jane Peters, Head of Administration at Commercial Debt Collection firm Federal Management said “We have a number of field operatives who do a lot of mileage and have had no accidents in the past few years. We doubt that the profession itself has little to do with these figures and it is more about the individual”

Insurance company 1st Central co-founder and chief underwriting officer Pete Creed said: “People often have set preconceived ideas about how certain professions behave on the roads. Our data dispels a number of these myths, but it’s interesting to see such suspicions confirmed for estate agents.”

Administration, painters and farmers were named as the most safest drivers in the UK.
